“Randall Huskinson is a natural storyteller.”

Who am I?

RANDALL HUSKINSON,
PLAYWRIGHT & PRODUCER

I’m Randall Huskinson, award-winning playwright; emerging producer. I create both adult and TYA plays.

My life has been endlessly tangled up with theatre, straight and gay (um, I mean musicals). I’ve acted, worked tech, directed, served on committees and a board of directors. And I’ve been an insatiable audience member—a lifelong supporter of this ridiculously divine art form. Then there’s the writing…not something I set out to do, but like so many writers I just seem to do it. Made a career out of it—from spinning advertising copy to crafting messaging for an oil company to trotting the globe as an award-winning travel journalist. But no matter all that; it’s just fodder for the plays. Toss in inspiration from my lifetime of impossibly impossible scenarios—shall we start with my childhood as a gay Mormon potato farmer? Not all at once. Bit by bit, as it’s said. If you’re dying to know more about me, click here.

I am an emerging producer and a alumnus of the TRU master producer program, NYC, and the CGO creative producer program in the UK.

I’m interested in theatre that tackles issues I sense society is percolating on. I’m curious. When I smell a story, I begin to chart it. If it’s more than a scene, I start digging and planting those magic beans that lead to the giants of surprise and sadness, delight and disgust. Once I give a character a name and a purpose, I’m often surprised at what they divulge to me, and I write it down. And curious modern plays are born.
